Dont get caught out on Caravan, Folding Camper or Trailer Tent Damp!!!!

It can be very exciting buying a new caravan, Folding Camper or even a trailer Tent, but when you are buying a second hand one that is fairly dated i.e. Late 80's right up to mid 2000's it has even been noted to newer ones.

Here is some tips for finding 'Damp Spots' I would look for when I would go looking for a new (Second Hand) Caravan, Folding Camper or Trailer Tent.

Caravans

When you first walk in the caravan have a sniff about, if it smells foisty, it could either of been sat for a while or some mold or damp. If there is a perfumed smell then the foisty smell has been masked and I would be cautious.

Check all the wall especially around window, around doors and also check any were that is hidden, under seats and behind cupboards. If any wall is spongy or rotten with Black mold on I would be very cautious & even walk away from the caravan.

Check under the caravan and check the chassis is in good condition, check all the wooden flooring for signs of rotting, also make sure there is no sponginess in the floor above when walking on it.

Folding Campers

This is the same principal as above but take special note of checking the canvas & underneath the boards of the sleeping areas as these are areas where the cover has leaked and spoiled the boards underneath.

Trailer Tents

Check the canvas thoroughly for tears, rips & condensation spores (Black Spots) as you probably know none of these are good for a canvas. Check the underneath for floor rot & chasis.

As we all know the good old British weather is not the best out there & can cause all sorts of problems to our beloved Caravans, Folding Campers & Trailer tents, check them regularly, use dehumidifiers to keep condensation out & keep them as dry as possible.  If you already own one and you find damp, get it treated ASAP as it will spread & do lots more damage.

HAPPY CAMPING!!!!:)

Skandika Nimbus 12 Man Family Tent Review

Product Description:

The NIMBUS is an extremely spacious 12-berth tent for larger groups which is quick and easy to erect and at the same time offers greatest protection.
The tent has a peak height of over 200 cm, allowing best possible freedom of movement and the generous living area in the centre provides ample space for all your belongings. The porch area at the front can be used as a part of the main living area, should you need a larger tent: simply zip the front wall out and zip it in right at the front of the porch, extending the size of your indoor area. The three sleeping pods are positioned one at either side of the tent and one at the back. The large pod at the back has a central divider which can be rolled down. Review:

We bought this tent after our 5 berth became too small.
Although it is a 12 man tent, we are only a family of 7, but the tent suited our needs perfectly.
There is enough space to stretch out, so you aren't on top of each other.
We used the large sleeping area for us, which comes with a handy divider which we used and put our wardrobes in the other half.
Three children in one pod and two in the other pod, left lots of space in the middle should the weather play up. We had enough space for a table and chairs to play games etc.
At the front we closed off halfway and had an entrance area, for shoes and swimming floats etc.
So much space, which is what you need when away camping.

Putting the tent together was extremely easy as the poles are all colour co-ordinated. Working together took us no time at all.

Overall a very happy buy and would highly recommend

Coleman Coastline Plus Three Man Tent Review

I have not been camping since a child when we had a trailer tent. I am used to a lot of space. I want to be able to stand up, I am 5'1, yes I can in this tent. Easy to have two chairs in the living area. We brought it in September 2012. Only just got round to putting it up on the garden last weekend. So easy to put up. Took 30 minutes reading the instructions. It should be quicker now. It is 3 hoop poles over the top, peg down sides, guy ropes out, the inner tent & ground sheet just clip in, done. I am actually looking forward to camping now. 4 stars as we have not used it over night yet, It is only for 3 nights max.
